This is the perfect daytime meeting dress! The quality is great and it fit beautifully. I read the previous review and was nervous, but it fit perfectly! I’m a size 12/14 and the XL was slightly big.

I really wanted to love this dress. It isn't very figure flattering. The fabric feels nice. The color is also pretty. The problem is the smocking. I have a long torso, but the smocking seems to cut off too high up, and the pockets tend to feel as if they're sitting up higher also. Like closer to my chest than my hips. I'm 5'10, 155 lbs., size 12/large. I think the best way to put this; is that it feels like the garment was intended for or better suited for someone that's petite. Since Covid, J. Crew doesn't seem to offer many if any tall / petite options. It seems they're trying to meet somewhere in the middle, like a one length fits-all. It isn't working. It also makes me look wide from the front, not a vanity issue. Just awkward. The length is fine, the proportions are off. I really wish the smocking extended an additional 4-5" lower. This had such beautiful potential.
