I purchased this skirt to basically wear 12 months a year, and you absolutely can. I've worn this in the warmer weather with a tank, and I am transitioning this to wear with boots and a sweater. The fit is true to size. For me @ 5'5 is hits just a couple of inches above the knee. If you're on the fence, try it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
