Boys' lightweight pajama pant

I bought a kids' pajama set in November 2020 for my teenage son. He proceeded to wear — and wash — the pants regularly but never wore the shirts. While folding his laundry today I was absolutely shocked at what the pants feel like, less than a year after purchase, after they've been washed a few dozen times. They feel like absolute garbage -- the worst, roughest material ever. Just horrible. The shirts, still unwashed or maybe washed a few times, feel fine. But the pants must go in the trash because they feel awful and I can't bear the thought of my kid trying to sleep in them. I'm a longtime J. Crew customer but I cannot believe how bad the quality of these pajamas is. As my son, age 13, says: "Appalling. This fabric should be separated from human touch." DO NOT BUY.
