1040 Athletic-fit Broken-in chino pant

I wore these pants, the 1040 fit, all through high school and college, and it makes me a bit sad to see them go. I don’t have super big legs, I’m actually a pretty slim guy, but I am pretty tall (6’2”), so I need pants with a mid rise (about 11 inches) to be comfortable and look proportional. The 1040’s were great, but were a little oversized. Please Please Please bring back a fit with medium (11 in.) rise and a slim/ tapered leg. I’ll buy them all.

I don't know whether the "Athletic 1040" is meant to be distinct from the previous 1040, but the fit is entirely different. I have worn the 1040 cut for years and they have always been consistent- roomy, but not too baggy and with a tapered leg. These are really huge in the legs with a much wider opening and a deeper seat. I wish I could send them back, but I already washed them. Expensive lesson learned.

A good pair of pant that I have enjoyed to wear since I bought it.

Used to wear these all the time, had to repurchase as the pants started to tear. The new pair that came is beyond huge (i did not shrink) in the strangest of places.

I have been wearing the "Classic Fit" which has undergone a series of name changes over the years, most recently 1040 Athletic. The most recent order was a 32x34 which has been my size for almost 20 years and I was swimming in the pants. I am keeping them in hopes that some laundering will improve things but it shouldn't be required. For kicks I tried the 770 fit which is a slimmer fit and but was too slim for my tastes in a 32 waist and too large in a 33. This leaves me thinking I need to find a new brand of chino. This has been my uniform for at least 20 years. Please work on the quality control J.Crew.

These pants are comfortable and I like the heaviness of the fabric.
