⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — The Best Performance Chino I've Ever Worn
June 21, 2026I'll be honest — I was skeptical. This was my first time buying a chino with more synthetic material than cotton, and I wasn't sure I was going to like the way they looked. I was wrong. These Athletic Tapered Fit 1040s look nearly identical to a classic pair of navy chinos. That's not an accident — I think J.Crew's decision to keep a high cotton content is exactly what separates these from the competition. A lot of performance pants sacrifice the look for the function. J.Crew didn't do that here. Once you put them on, you immediately understand what all the fuss is about. The stretch is incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say you could work out in these or sleep in them if you had to. They are that comfortable. But they don't look like workout pants — they look sharp, put-together, and completely appropriate for the office. For anyone who's been on the fence about performance chinos because they don't want to look like they just came from the gym — these are your answer. J.Crew got the balance exactly right: the aesthetics of a traditional chino with the comfort and flexibility of athletic wear. These are now my go-to work pant. Highly recommend.

A tech pant that looks like regular pants
May 5, 2026I love these. They drape well, are comfortable in warm weather, dry quickly, and the athletic fit is perfect for me (I'm a runner and have trouble finding fits that work with my waist and don't bunch up around my legs.) UPF 50+ is also a great bonus. I've worn these over a year and they've held up very well, still look new.
