Indian madras shirt in plaid

Read other reviews before buying. The sizing is true to CLASSIC - not slim - sizing. The colors are rich and the quality is good. Looks great under a solid sweater of any color.

After reading other reviews on the shirt being oversized I decided to stick with my normal med size figuring it might shrink a bit. The shirt arrived and I find it actually true to size in the medium. It’s a thicker cotton than I expected for a madras and the darker color way seems more suited to autumn. Overall it’s a good quality shirt, but a gamble on sizing. I hoping it doesn’t shrink much.

This shirt is beautifully designed and the cotton is very comfortable. This is a classic fit shirt, I'm 5.9 and 155 lb, it fits me well. Of course I will wear it tuck in since it's a bit too long but this one is not exceptional, just like other J crew shirts. If you usually buy a fixed size from J crew, just buy it.

This shirt is cut in a “classic” silhouette and appears to NOT be offered in a “slim” cut. It DOES in fact run large. I will say that I previously purchased this shirt back when it was offered in a slim cut and it has shrunk significantly where it’s maybe a bit too fitted now. Darts or having it slightly taken in, on the sides, would help if you want a more tailored look. The fabric, based on the one I already own, ages incredibly beautifully. I will second others’ assertion that the colors are more muted than what is shown in the images… …but still beautiful. I’m planning to get it tailored once I wash it a few times and am convinced that it’s finished shrinking. This shirt can easily be dressed up for summer with a knit tie and a fitted, unconstructed, linen suit. I would give it 5 stars if it weren’t so boxy.

stoked to get this. fit was very generous -- felt '80s in fit. Solid construction. But waaaaaay too long. I'm 5'8" with athletic build. Medium went ~12" below my waist. Need to ret OR take it to the tailor and have it taken up. Odd for a shirt...
