Kenton suede plain-toe boots

Surprisingly well built, great suede quality and true to size, although insoles are a must for a snug fit in my opinion. Vibram sole is so good, you can climb up he rocks like Spidermen, except if the ground is wet. Tongue moves to the side, which is annoying and you have to cut and pull the laces through or fix it some other way. They fit under a variety of pants, and are good for wearing longer periods. I even used them hiking on rough terrain and possible one of my favorite shoes for that, especially if you like hiking in style :)

I’ve owned Goodyear welted boots from everyone: Red Wing, Wolverine, Chippewa, Thursday, etc. I got these boots on sale after watching them forever. My expectations were blown away. The luxurious insole has a soft leather lining over a cork bed with a little foam. They fit nicely, were comfortable immediately, and had no real break in period. These are like Red Wing Blacksmiths or Wolverine 1000 mile boots, and I’ve had both of those. The only difference is these don’t have a gusseted tongue, meaning the tongue isn’t attached at the sides also for additional water protection. This is a minor issue in light of everything else these have going for them. Vibram traction soles, exactly like Red Wing and others. I also bought the similar Pacer boot in blue, which is also amazing, but that’s a story for another review. For size, I measure a 12.6 on the Brannock device. I tried a 12 and a 13 and the 13 gave me the room for my big toe that I needed. Start with your Brannock device size.

Incredibly comfy boot from the start - the suede is soft and ready to move, I didn't have any hot spots on my foot. Vibram sole is not stiff either. You can start walking all day in these boots. Suede is from CF Stead, which was a pleasant surprise! For me, Kentons are true to size boots (I have the black leather Pacers too). I wear with thin to medium boot socks (e.g. Darn Tough lights, or Anonymousism wool socks. I wouldn't be able to fit heavy weight Darn Toughs). I know a lot of other reviewers go 1/2 size down though. I think perhaps my feet are just a touch wide, but the length is still perfect for me.
