Collection slim-fit vest in pinstripe Italian wool

I read all the reviews for the vest and the pants and ended up ordering a size 8 vest and 10 pants and had to re-order in a 6, my normal shirt size, and 8, my normal pants/jeans size. I am 5'8", 34D, broad shoulders, 31" waist and 42" hips I think. The quality is there, with the vest lined, and I would expect it to be for how much these are. I wish they were not excluded from all promos, even my $25 birthday reward could not be used towards these purchases so it's frustrating having to pay full price.

Fine fabric, well tailored. Beautiful. I love this piece. It's really fun to wear and creates an Annie Hall look that's great for fall.

I am a solid size 4 or small at J.Crew these days. Because this flew out online so fast (despite me watching this item), I had to order the size 8 with a view to trying it on (of course the four stores in my area didn’t carry this item) and possibly getting it altered to fit. No need! The size 8 fit very well. This vest runs very small. I can wear it with just a bra underneath with no side boob or bra showing! The length is shorter than expected but at 5”1, I can live with it. I expect a number of these to be returned when customers who purchased their regular size make those returns on the vest that’s too small. For a collection item, the price is still steep despite the fabric being soft and lined. Hence my 4-stars for overall rating.

So happy that I can match this vest from last fall season’s pinstripe blazer and slacks. Size 2 was sold out so I took a gamble on a 4. These run a tad small. I’m usually a 2 in JC button up shirts, blazers, coats, and the 4 fits me perfectly. I didn’t notice that it has buckles on the side to cinch the waist which is a bonus for me. For reference I’m 34B and short waisted. 25/26 in jeans and a 2 in slacks. I would probably style it with the thin cotton T like how it’s styled.

So happy to see this kind of quality and classic pieces return to JCrew! I wear a 6 or an 8 in JCrew button ups and the 6 fit perfectly with room for a shirt layer underneath. The pinstripes could pass for off-white or light grey. The only downside for me was the bright gold hardware on the side fasteners, and it was a bit to short. It wasn’t a good match for me at full price so I returned it.
