Matelassé dress with contrast piping

I want to love this dress! It’s well made, very flattering, and so cute. It unfortunately doesn’t fit me well. I am small chested so there’s a ton of extra material up top, but the cute red band around the waist is way too tight for me. I have other size 4 JCrew dresses that fit me perfectly.

I love the style of this dress which is mod and modern. The coral/pink color is striking and fun. I just ordered the navy which will be good for the fall. The material is of good quality and a bit thicker than expected, though I expect it to be fine for summer. To me, this is more of a work dress due to the material. It would be perfect but for the fit. I'm smaller on top and will need to have this dress altered (which I plan to do since I'm a big fan). The size 6 fits perfectly on the bottom but is too baggy on top. It's wearable, but I like a more fitted look. The size 4 was still slightly baggy on top but the bottom was too tight. It's hits me at my knees. For reference, I'm short-waisted, 5'5", wear a 34C, and have 28/29" waist and 39/40" hips.

Love the vintage style and classy look! It’ll be a perfect office dress when the pandemic is over. The only gripe I have is the fabric. It’s not bad, but since it has no stretch no give, it kinda HAS to leave some additional room around waist area for sitting comfortably. This diminishes the hourglass shape I was hoping more of. For this style, some thick ponte fabric with tighter enforcement around the waist would work fabulously! For reference, I’m 34 (b/c cup), 26, 36. Size 2 fits me perfectly will some room to sit.

For all you Mad Men fans out there, the first thing that popped to mind when I saw this dress was Joan Harris, the strong, stylish, and slightly acerbic female character from our beloved show set in the late 50s and early 60s. The silhouette and color of the dress with its cute piping looks like it came straight out of wardrobe from the show but in a totally wearable way for today's chic, J. Crew-donning professional! Sadly, with the additional LBS. that have crept up on me during these COVID times, my normal size 6 was a tad too snug, and I had to (sniff, sniff) place it in the mail for a return. For reference, I am 5'5" and 134 on normal days and 137 on binge days.

Fits beautifully giving a figure flattering fit and hits on the knee. The colors go beautifully together and are happy colors. Happy I got it can’t wait to wear it!

I can't wait to wear this in the spring and summer! The colors are stunning and the material is comfortable and flattering. I'm a 4/6 and went with a 4. Retro and chic. Highly recommend.
