Thomas Mason ® for J.Crew tunic dress

full disclosure, I bought this as maternity wear so I appreciate the extra room. I got a small, and I'm only 14 weeks so there's to time fill it in. Even so it's not meant to be a fitted dress anyway. I really like it. You can belt it if you want some shape, but the relaxed fit is the overall look you're gonna get. Do size down if you want to, but I would have been happy with my regular xs under normal circumstances. I plan to layer it oversized sweaters and turtleneck ponchos...maybe a knit vest with leggings. The only downside imo is that you have to steam it, but I found that to be the case with all Thomas mason shirts.

I purchased this in hopes it wouldn’t look like a big sack and I could wear it like one of those big shirt tunics of the 90s over leggings. I’m tall so it’s nice to find some thing that is actually mid thigh and long enough where I feel modest and covered. I normally am a size large or a numbered size 14. Based on the refuse I sized down to a medium and it was perfect. I did not find it shapeless but if you do you can always wear a loose belt or put a cardigan over it. It would not work for me as a dress. I liked it so much I ordered the same shirt in the stripe. The Hilow him looks more exaggerated in the pictures than it does in person. It only is about 2 inches longer than the front.

The quality of the cotton is top notch. It’s oversized, but that is what makes it functional as a white shirt dress. The back hem is abruptly longer than the front—- which looks sloppy to me. That’s the only reason I didn’t keep it. I returned for a Thomas mason shirt instead.

The shirt by itself has no shape and is not flattering, looks like an oversized nightgown... however if you layer sweaters, coats, etc. on top of the dress, you can create some cute combinations.
