Tie-waist cotton voile midi dress in rose vines

Very nice, long dress which I think is perfect for work and even for the wknd. Very effortless. Love the dark color with the slight pinkish hue flowers. And I always love a dress with pockets.

The dress is adorable, very lightweight and great for summer but there was no belt included. On closer look at the photos, the tie waist is "built-in" to the dress. The dress I received has no tie/belt at all. Without it, the dress is too loose with no shape.

Would not have noticed online but saw in store- the fabric is so soft and light and pattern is lovely. The online doesn't really do it justice. I do not wear with the cotton slip that comes with it; the dark/busy pattern helps to obscure transparency. I'm usually a size 2 in J Crew tops and dresses (5'4", 126, 34B) and that's what worked for me. The waist is a wee bit high for me (I'm a little longer waisted) but not a deal breaker. Also, the pockets are fab but they used a dark blue fabric (same as liner) for them. If you don't use the slip liner, you can see them a bit through the dress- wished they used a more neutral colored fabric. I'd love to see more voile patterns like these in short sleeved dresses and shirts since they are perfect for the hottest and most humid days!

This is THAT dress. The one that is appropriate for Everything. It’s comfortable and flattering and it has POCKETS!! This is THAT dress that I take everywhere with me.

For reference, I am 5'6 and 120lbs give or take 5lbs depending on the bloat and pant size 27. I bought this dress in a size 2 after reading the reviews stating that it is oversized. Although I agree it is billowy, I decided to go with a size 2 (usual size is 2 or 4 depending on the item) because I wanted it to look relaxed and not too tight. I am so happy I went with a slightly smaller size because even though the dress is oversized, it has an elastic waistband and I don't like it when the elastic is snug. I was also pleasantly surprised by the detail of this dress. I thought it'd be navy and white only but the white flowers have a pink outline which adds a wonderfully feminine detail. I didn't wear the slip in my pictures below and I think it's thick enough to wear on its own (with nude underwear). I LOVE IT! Jcrew is killing it this season (and at the same time, killing my wallet haha)

I easily overlooked this online but in-store, the beautiful, breezy cotton voile fabric caught my eye. The item description does not do it justice—it can be worn at least three ways: 1) Long shirt dress (with cotton slip); 2) Beach coverup (without slip and buttoned) and 3) Kimono-style duster (without slip, unbuttoned). The buttons make it highly customizable and the sleeves can be rolled for a relaxed look. It is very work to weekend appropriate! This is the staple summer dress I didn’t know I was looking for! Size runs large—the style is quite billowy, size down if you want a more fitted look. I went 3 sizes smaller than my usual J. Crew 4 dress size (32B, 135lb).
