Gorgeous and high quality
February 14, 2021Really big fan of this dress; feels high quality. Definitely agree with the other reviews that the material is very stiff upon first opening. So much so that I find it difficult to get on. (Maybe I have broad shoulders and didn't realize?) I'm 124 lbs, 5'5, 36B, purchased the small. I'm totally able to roll up the sleeves despite the stiffness, so disagree with the other review on that. The rest of it looks nice, albeit loose per the intended design. Honestly, given that it's 100% cotton, I might have purchased the Medium to account for post-wash shrinking + existing putting-on difficulty. The Medium might have been huge in the body, but perhaps ok post-wash given it's not a fitted dress anyway, plus there always are belts. I'm hoping washing/drying will soften the material and make it easier to put on. Also nervous it will make it more difficult though. Catch-22. Otherwise, a major win of a dress!

staple dress
November 10, 2020although a little stiff, the style of this dress is AWESOMENESS. really. i think i may have purchased one of the last ones for this season....So glad i got one. do this style again j.crew. next time, make the fabric slightly less stiff! but, you know, i'm going to still give this dress 5 starts....it's worth it.

Everyday wear
November 1, 20205’5” about 126 lbs and wear a size 0 or 2. Went with the x-small and it fit nicely. This is thick; hence it can be worn fall, winter & spring.

I will cut the sleeves
October 28, 2020Beautiful dress, however, the fabric is, as some other reviewers mentioned already, very stiff and hard. With the long sleeves it looks too much of this dress. As I like the style and the cut, I decided to cut the sleeves and make it a short sleeve dress. Like that I can wear a tissue turtle neck shirt on cold days underneath. I might even make it a bit shorter. Now it is just above my knees. Otherwise, a nice dress. Nothing special, but good for every day.

Heavy twill
October 14, 2020According to other reviews I knew this would be a heavy chino fabric, but it’s VERY thick and rigid. I wasn’t expecting how rigid and stiff the fabric would be. It certainly cannot be worn in warm, even moderately warm weather here in TX! Aside from that, I do like the style & color. I’m on the petite side, so it’s longer than I’d like, but will have my seamstress hem as I purchased at final sale.
