Point Sur vista straight jean in Pale Indigo wash: selvedge edition

The positives: The quality and feel are great. Love the lighter blue color. My pair didn’t have all the distressing, but I actually prefer them without so much whiskering and wear. What I take issue with is the sizing. Previously purchased J. Crew, straight, jeans have never fit me this baggy. Reviews were spilt on the fit, color and amount of distressing. My 26 fit super baggy and long. I have a 8” cuff at the bottom, the waist, legs and seat are so wide I could fit a 2 yr old in them with me. The price was very reasonable so I took the gamble with no return no exchange. I’ll see what a tailor can do.

These jeans may look better on someone taller than 5'5". I don't find them flattering, as the cut (too long and too much fabric below the knee) makes me look shorter and fatter than I am (120 lbs). The quality is decent though, they are soft, and they are ok for use around the house. Purchased a size 26 and I think they are true to size.

These fit as expected (I took my typical J Crew size 26, down from 27 elsewhere). As in the photos, they are relatively straight though a bit wide with a slight taper. They work well for my muscular legs. The distressing was as shown in the photos, though in person the wash looks a bit darker. Since I’ll wear them cuffed to show the selvedge, I won’t need to have them hemmed to fit my 5’3” height: they fall just where I want when I turn the cuff one time. Happy with these, especially at the sale price!

The good: the denim is fantastic, not heavy or stiff with a nice hand feel. I was expecting a very light wash with some distressing and instead got a medium wash with zero distressing and was happy about it. If 100% cotton denim is your thing, you will love this denim. Bonus selvedge! The sizing: here's the dirt - I am 47yo, 5'8" tall and weigh 146lbs with a 30" waist and 40" hip. I am pretty consistently a size 30 in jeans across the board. I don't wear stretchy denim, so that's a 30 in "rigid" denim. The fit guide recommended a size 30, I ordered a size 30. They are VERY oversized. While the jeans appear oversized on the model, they are baggier in person. The rise measures 13.5 inches and the waist is 33 inches across. I find the leg to be straight but very loose. I love the denim so much I am debating ordering 1 or even 2 sizes down to get a good fit. Good luck!

Even though it says these are true to size, they are not. I ordered a 30 to have plenty of room and they fit like a 27. Bummed.

Okay, so I had none of the issues previous reviewers have mentioned, but I may have just gotten lucky. Who knows with J.C. these days. However, the wash on these looks nothing like what is being advertised. I thought I would receive a light wash with a touch of distressing. What I got was a medium blue wash with no distressing. Sigh. But...they fit perfectly in my normal size 26, and they feel like my premium denim (think COH, etc.). The pair I received are def straight leg. I'd say on the loose end of straight, but straight. They're beautiful jeans, and they look great on, so I'm happy and gave 5 stars, but just be aware--you may get something entirely different! Lol. The denim is a nice weight--too hot for right now, but they'll be fab once it cools off a bit. High-waisted, real denim. Great wash (even though it's not what I expected). I hope they keep making this type of jean--that's another reason I gave 5 stars. I picked them up for a song, too, which is even better.
