Cinched-waist cotton poplin tank top in midnight floral

I so badly wanted to like this top. Purchased my normal size (medium) because I didn't want it to be too cropped. The amount of extra fabric under the armpits is astounding. Huge bunches of extra fabric sticking out making my boobs look extra wide. I ordered another color as well, hoping to keep both. Tried the second one on in hopes that the first was just off. Both were the same.

I got this top and the matching skirt. The top I got in a size small and I'm normally a six and it fits well. The bust area fits me nicely but not tight and I am a 34C. The top goes right down to my belly button and we'll cover me completely with a pair of mid/high-waisted jeans and the skirt that's matching sits nicely on my waist too to make it look more like a dress.
