This popover gets lots of love for its bright, vintage-inspired print and lightweight feel, and customers say it looks especially cute for warm-weather outfits or layered into fall. A standout theme is the dye issue: many customers recommend washing it carefully before the first wear, since the color can bleed when wet or in the wash. Some customers found that pre-washing or washing it separately helped keep the white areas clean. Overall, it’s a really stylish top, but it seems to need extra care to avoid color transfer.

Fun print, yes it bleeds, but saved!
November 18, 2014I rarely write reviews, but since others seem to have a common problem I wanted to share what worked for me! Like all the reviews said, the first time I wore it I didn't even know when water got on it but parts of the shirt was bleeding in color. I tried spot washing it without putting in the machine then all the areas that were even slightly wet bled color everywhere and it was just a hotttt mess. Before I started considering going to J. Crew and begging them for a return, I put it in the wash, didn't help, then I washed it again on its own in the machine. Then it was okay! Shirt saved! But seriously. Don't make bleeding shirts pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.

exquisite shirt with surprisingly easy care
November 9, 2014I had the same experience as in all the previous reviews - my shirt turned unevenly pink upon cold wash after it bleed from the sweat in the armpits. I was extremely disappointed. I went online looking for color sealant if I had to buy a new one and other ways to handle the mess. I didn't want to give up and throw out the shirt - I loved it. I decided to wash it a second time in an effort to uniformly distribute the pink. The shirt was left soaking overnight. then I rinsed it (even with warm water) and I couldn't believe it - its white background was completely restored, no bleeding spots, nothing, clean and fresh as when I purchased it. I don't understand the science behind but the point is - wash your shirt before you wear the first time, let it dry completely then wash it again. A recommendation to J.Crew - please test all your items in every possible condition before releasing it to the market. P.S. I even purchased two more shirts for a present!

Great Style, but the Shirt BLEEDS!
November 3, 2014So disappointed with the quality of this shirt! First wash and the burgundy bled all over. The store was wonderful about refunding me.
