Beautiful print, but...
May 11, 2021I tried this top on in-store. I absolutely LOVE the print! I have several Liberty-print shirts from J. Crew and they have really declined in quality over the years. This one is PAPER-THIN and although I like the weight for summer, I'm afraid it wouldn't survive laundering. The cut is also unflattering - boxy and under-tailored, as per J. Crew's recent M.O. Because of the boxiness, I'd say it runs large. I normally wear an XS and felt I was swimming in it, but there wasn't an XXS available to try. I think smocking makes things look cheap, and this shirt is no exception. I like the puffy sleeves, but I wish they'd been accomplished with higher-quality sewing techniques for durability and appearance. The current description on the website is also misleading - there is no smocking at the neck on this top & it cannot be worn off-the-shoulder.
