Fits true to size
This skirt is green
December 12, 2023This skirt is fine. Decent quality and the sizing is normal. However, the skirt is a light hint of green. It is the strangest thing. I cannot wear this skirt as a black skirt- it is green. I bought it as a staple piece of my wardrobe - especially for Winter. But I must return because it is GREEN and NOT BLACK!!!!

Good staple
November 4, 2023This skirt runs at least one size small. I sized up from my very consistent bottom size of 10 to 12 and it just fits (I would not size up 2 sizes because then the proportions won’t work). I agree with the other reviewer who said the velvet isn’t the plushest, but I wouldn’t want that on something I’m sitting on anyway because it would just get crushed and look weird. I love that it’s machine washable. There’s a little stretch to it and a nice wide grosgrain ribbon lines the inside of the waist. I see this being a great winter staple. It will go with many things I already own and can be dressed up or down. I wouldn’t pay full price though.

Great Velvet Mini Skirt
November 4, 2023Very cute skirt, exactly what I was looking for. Has a little bit of stretch and I found it true to size. The velvet is nice unlike the other reviewers, I didn't find it too thin. Feels well made and comfortable to wear.

Not stretchy , runs a size small.
November 2, 2023There is very little, if ANY, stretch here, and I'd say this skirt runs a full size small. I ordered one size up from my usual J.Crew size, and it's a close fit. The velvet is fine. The skirt has a satin-like lining, and a thick grosgrain ribbon that runs around the inside of the waistband. Neither of these design elements allow for any stretch. Description says this skirt sits at waist, but it seems to be rather high waisted to me and it tends to ride up quite a bit above my waist when I walk or sit, which may be due to the straight cut. I'm keeping this, but I wish there was some actual stretch to this skirt to accommodate my hips. I'm 5'4" and find the length is perfect, ending a few inches above my knee, and not too short for work.

Meh
October 26, 2023Runs quite small; order one size up. Velvet is very thin and not remotely plush. I think I’m taking a pass.

Runs Small
October 24, 2023This velvet skirt is well made and looks pretty. I love the little bit of stretch also. I most always take a Medium Petite, or a Petite 10, but since this didn't come in a Petite sizing, I ordered the size 10 and the 12, thinking I would keep the one that fit best. They both went back, as even the 12 is a bit tight at the waist. Now I'm ordering the size 14, a size I never wear, in hopes that it will work, especially with the stretch. I am loving the new J Crew clothes, but sizing is a problem. Petites are few and often have waists, breast and hip measurements that are a full inch narrower than on regular misses sizes. Since I'm not thinner, and am just shorter, that's often a problem.
