Classic leather penny loafers

Quality seems very good except for one detail. There’s a seam on the side of the shoe where sections of the leather meet. There’s no stitching there to hold the pieces in place which is good from an aesthetic standpoint however, I’m not sure how long those pieces will hold up after regular use. The pieces look glued together. It looks like it’s done well but again, I’m not sure how well it’ll hold up after some wear. Given that detail, I still think it’s a well made loafer. The actual color is a little more orangey than in the photo which shows a more muted tan leather color. That doesn’t really bother me as I figure it’ll get a little darker the more I wear it. Overall a great loafer. I went back and ordered the same pair in black.

I bought these in search of a comfortable shoe, these were a hard no. Leather was extremely stiff and they ran very small and narrow. I’m a true 8.5, I order these in 8.5 and could barely squeeze my foot into them. Couldn’t bare 2 secs standing completely still in these, so no way could I bare a single step or all day in these. They looked okay, but the color was a bit lighter than I was expecting as well. I sent these back.

I wear a 6.5 in women's shoes in medium width. I bought the camel colored loafers in that size (the reviews I read said the loafers were true to size). Upon trying them on, I found the loafers run large by at least half a size. When I walk, the back of the shoes come off and installing shoe insoles do not remedy the problem. There is a noticeable gap that appears mid-foot between my feet and the loafers when I walk. I am disappointed that JCrew would sell loafers billed as first quality when in reality I feel these shoes are seconds and mislabeled. Of course, JCrew has created policies where final sales are not returnable. That is unfortunate because the loafers should at least be exchangeable in order to facilitate better fitting shoes. I cannot recommend these loafers and advise the buyer to beware.

These loafers look even better in person than in pictures on the website. I love these shoes, they are slightly large, I ordered my usual size 7 in other brands and I should have ordered a 6.5 instead. I can always wear thicker socks so no big deal, but next time I will definitely size down 1/2 size in J Crew shoes. These shoes go with everything and are so well made and beautiful!
