I agree with what the previous reviewer wrote… I too shop J Crew a lot .. and of recent, kinda obsessed since the new team has taken it all up a notch…. BUT, I never was totally happy with J Crew shoes for quality or comfort, yet seems things are now on the rise on the shoe front as well. Recently, I’ve purchased several styles & they’ve all been “wins”. These mules are a great mix of classic style, some edge for fun, quality and comfort. They fit true to size, the heel is low yet stylishly cut (comfortable) they appear to be well made (including that authentic leather scent when opening the box) :) I think they’re timeless & will elevate many outfits for seasons to come!

As a long-time J. Crew devotee, in the last 5 years or so I had noticed a marked decline in shoe quality, and had stopped buying J Crew shoes altogether. But this style gives me hope that things may be improving. The lining is leather--a must for me (the sole is synthetic but oh well.) The styling is impeccably chic yet comfortable and thus potentially a work-to-play wardrobe staple for me. I may even buy another color....more color choices would be nice! FIT: My feet are wide and tender and I have a bunion, so it's hard for me to find comfortable shoes that fit. I found these slightly narrow but otherwise true to size. At first they felt a little stiff but the leather started forming to my foot nicely from the very first wearing.

Let’s face it, the shoes in the past few years have been pretty disappointing. Shopping the brand for more than 20 years, those Elsie pumps with no traction on the bottom straight from Italy look far more expensive than their $300 price tag but I digress… While I have remained loyal to the brand through the ups and downs (more downs) shoes were the exception. They were a big no for me. Given the current path and the fact that I’m loving what I see under the new Women’s creative director, I took a chance and I’m glad I did. Are they the old JCrew, absolutely not. While they can claim made in Italy, there is a a lot of room for interpretation in that. In any case, I like them a lot. I’m going to order the leopard sling backs and hope that somehow the shoe production returns to its roots. We don’t mind paying for quality. This was long winded, in short if you curb your high expectations and remain cautiously optimistic compared to the past five years or longer, you’ll be good.
