26 customer reviewsWhat customers are saying:
Customers generally like the Riverton wash and the overall look of these jeans, saying they have a sharp slim-but-not-skinny style that works well for a lot of outfits. The denim quality and construction get strong marks, and many customers mention they feel well made and durable. A common note is that this newer version runs slimmer and more snug than earlier 484s, so customers may want to try a size up if they prefer a little more room. Several customers also recommend expecting a stiff break-in period at first, since the fabric can feel rigid before it softens with wear.

Fits big
Inconsistent quality in delivery
February 5, 2018I ordered the same pair, same wash, same size of this pair of jeans which I had already purchased prior. However, when this second pair came in, it ran large yet was labeled the exact same kind/size (31/30). As a result, I have to go out of my way to return this pair and exchange them. This is the second time this has happened. Also, many of the styles claim to be the same size but are inconsistent in fitting.

Fits small
More of a skinny fit
December 21, 2017I usually like a slim fit as it is more snug than standard fit but not constricting like a slim. These fit me more like a skinny fit and I have limited motion wearing them. I don’t have big legs by any means and these seem very snug.

Fits true to size
Absolutely perfect
October 20, 2017So many complaints here about the updated cut. Yes, they are slimmer than the old 484, with a tighter leg opening; but they are also a vast improvement - the materials, the details, the washes take them to a whole new level. While I still own multiple pairs of the old cut (wear them when walking the dogs mostly) the new 484 fit as if they were tailored. The amount of complaints about the cut change had me so worried that J Crew would switch back that I decided to purchase two pairs of every new dark wash available. The Riverton is a particular favorite since the wash and texture get closer to a “raw” pair than say the selvedge stretch resin rinse, which is slightly more saturated and a little softer. And just like a raw pair, they will stretch a bit with wear (which I cannot say about the overdyed olive or the black Barnet) so I would recommend getting your normal size.
