Paul Sperry created the world's first nonslip deck shoe after falling overboard, taking inspiration from his dog Prince's ability to stay surefooted. Since then, Sperrys have been worn by icons including JFK and Paul Newman—and seen everywhere from naval ships to tennis courts to the pages of The Official Preppy Handbook. Our new, exclusive collaboration revives the Authentic Original two-eye boat shoe with details taken from a vintage find. Everything from the color of the premium leather uppers to the white stitching to the retro branding on the insole and heel is carefully chosen to be as close to the original as possible—with the comfort and durability you'd expect from the legendary American brand. Please note that sizes listed are men's. Please subtract 1.5 from your normal size for the best fit. For example, a women's size 8.5 is a men's size 7.

August 29, 2025I'm not sure what I can say about Sperry that hasn't been trumpeted for decades... The Top-Sider is simply the archetype for casual boat shoes and I feel like the quality gets a slight bump in collaboration with J.Crew. There's just the right amount of preppy nerd here. I particularly love the white rubber souls in contrast to the subdued brown uppers (which feel like they'll patina nicely) and fussy leather laces. Fit is big; I usually wear a 9 but I went with 8.5 and probably could've gone down another half. I think these can only possibly look better as they start to weather and I'm planning on giving them plenty of wear through the fall, paired with jeans, chinos, and maybe even shorts if summer gives us a few final sparks. Sails up!
