Alden® for J.Crew pebbled leather wing tip boots

No commando soles for these dress boots; they’re great!

Alden makes great quality footwear, but these are boots, so why no commando sole?

These wingtip boots are described as “pebble” grain by J. Crew, while most Alden retailers refer to the leather as “Regina” grain. This leather has a subtle grain texture that has more of a matte finish, as compared to say Alden’s Scotch grain (which to me looks a bit too grainy and glossy). Overall it’s a really nice, crisp looking boot. I would have liked it even more if the eyelets were gold-colored and the soles had a brownish edge finish with Commando soles, instead of the boot being all black with leather soles. But very nice boots nevertheless, and the black grain and wingtips make these boots just different enough to stand out from all the other black boots out there.
