Beautiful shoe, expensive, J.Crew packaging poor
December 20, 2025Beautiful shoe that deserves five stars. Haven't had them long enough to give a thorough review. Why four stars? Alden shoes are very expensive. When you buy directly from Alden, you get an extra pair of laces and the shoes are packaged with materials to help keep the shape of the shoes, keep the shoes from rubbing against each other, etc. Not so through J.Crew, or maybe these were returned by another customer at some point and J.Crew didn't repackage them nicely. For a $700 pair of shoes, a spare pair of laces and appropriate packaging (that are standard on lesser shoes) would be nice. The box also had a rip along one side of it. It'd be nice if J.Crew gave it's premium products a little bit more care and attention.

March 1, 2024Very comfortable, classically stylish shoes. Pricey, but very well constructed. No regrets on the purchase. These shoes will be a staple in my wardrobe for many years.

The perfect Blucher!
July 14, 2019These shoes are beautiful and they just go with about everything! All I buy now are just Alden’s. I agree the Barrie Last run roomier than other shoes, so half size down accordingly. It’s best to try them on in store but what JCREW store has them in stock? Good luck and get a pair of Alden’s.

March 15, 2018Absolutely worth the money you pay for Alden shoes. These are my go to shoes for Fall and Winter. The flex sole is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. More comfortable than my running shoes. I have these in suede and now chromexel. The suede are my summer shoes and now I have my most comfortable shoes for winter.
