Gorgeous sweater!
January 17, 2022Was expecting the brown sweater featured in the pictures, was beyond happy with the olive-drab sweater that I received. This sweater is a foundation piece that I got at a "Fast-Fashion" price!

A worrisome trend
January 17, 2022I love J. Crew and their undying support to sustainability. But this sweater feels a bit cheap. What it may look like in the pictures certainly doesn’t look the same in real life. And that to me is worrisome in it itself.. but the fact of the matter is, this “merino rugged” line is half merino, Half plastic. Why do this?! You guys aren’t known to do these “blended” fabrics”. And the fact that it looked extremely cheap in real life doesn’t make it a bit worth the trouble even if it’s extreme clearance. Wearing synthetic fibers makes the end user feel like they’re in an incinerator because of how hot it could get if or should you layer it especially with another synthetic fiber like nylon or poly. It’s just wrong. I spend a lot of money on sweaters each year and I think j crew should separate itself from the “blended” trend or else we should just jump ship and go to the thrift stores and find even cheaper 100% woolen sweaters.. that’s all :)

Runs insanely small, and color is different
January 15, 2022I wear a medium in literally every J. Crew item, and there is usually room to spare, but this sweater is so tiny I almost feel as if it's just a QC issue and my item is defective. But of course it's final sale, so I can't return or exchange, even though this is the smallest "medium" sweater ever created and it's a different color from what is pictured (as others have said). Really bad job all around on this one.

Ok, so it is green not brown but....
January 14, 2022It's fatigue, which usually means an olive green, and this chunky sweater is all that, not an olive-brown as the picture shows. Once you get over the green and the fact that the Donegal is low-key (ie. just red flecks amongst the green) the rest of the sweater is fantastic in my opinion. It is soft, warm, and not too skinny or too baggy. I'm 6' and about 165lb. I can fit a T-shirt and shirt under it (medium size) with a denim jacket on top and feel snug as a bug in a rug during winter. If you want the oversized fisherman look, then go up a size on what your normal JCrew sweater size is. (So for me that would be a large size). If you are new to JCrew, I generally find that JCrew sweaters run a size smaller than the other big store brands that you find in the outlet mall.

Some weird reviews... have y’all worn wool before.
January 12, 2022This is a warm soft wool sweater. It’s donegal meaning there are little neps (one reviewer said: pills) intentionally woven into the fabric. This is often done with cotton or wool garments (including denim) to add texture. I got the green which is definitely military olive drab. The donegal neps are red and orange. Attractive stylish and unique. Dry clean only means you can put it in the washer on delicate but only on ice cold with no spin cycle.
