J.Crew Playa Miami string bikini bottom

As someone with a smaller bum, it was nice to not have a baggy suit bottom, finally. Love the cut. The colour is a bit deceptive — looks orange when dry and cherry red when wet. Overall cute, well-made, and great for summer.

I almost didn't buy this bikini because of all the negative reviews implying that it runs way too small. This is the type of product that forces you to be honest with yourself about your body type and what may or may not be most flattering (and appropriate) for you. It definitely is meant to run small and reveal more than the traditional JCREW bikini bottoms. It looks and fits best if you have a petite frame and lean build. I hate to say it, but if you want it to look the way it looks on the model, you need to look like the model. This bikini, regardless of size, is meant to have a more Brazilian look/feel to it. Again, not to offend anyone, but it definitely fits best on a model-like frame.

Coverage is minimal and a size small was 100% too small for my body, in other words, I needed two times this swimsuit to cover the area it was supposed to cover. When I tried these on, all I could think of was the scene in Shrek where the gingerbread man checked Pinocchio's underwear and shouted in the tiniest voice, "It's a thong!!" Love this bottom. I wanted a string bikini bottom that wasn't too low, too revealing, or too conservative. This is truly just right. I'm 5'2, 114 lbs (usually size 0-2, or 25-26), and XS fits perfectly! It's not too low in the front, and shows just the right amount from the back. This goes great with the french bikini top. Love!

I love these bottoms so much! Was looking for a new bikini and love that these are from J Crew but have the Brazilian style, since I hate my bikini bottoms to be full coverage.

This is like a classic string bikini bottom, but cut higher in the hips and butt. If you want more coverage, definitely size way up! After reading all the reviews, I ended up size up two sizes! (For reference, I am 5’5” 110lbs and usually wear an XS and bought a size M for these bottoms, and the top). The nice thing about sizing up is that you can adjust the fit with the string ties. I got the dark jade color which is gorgeous! These do have a brownish lining for when wet, and fabric seemed good quality to me. The little beads on the strings are so cute!
