We modeled our version on military-issue styles from the 1930s, using a soft-but-sturdy wool blend with authentic, old-school details like reinforced anchor-motif buttons—plus lightweight PrimaLoft insulation.

May 15, 2025This is... fine. I had one from a decade ago where the wool is much thicker, and I have to say, while J.Crew in general has really stepped up their quality game, this coat is would not get you through a Chicago winter these days. Bring back the thick wool!

Poor Quality
March 20, 2025I bought a Peacoat from J. Crew a few years ago that I really liked. It was a thick, sturdy wool with a heavy insulation. I purchased a new one as I wanted a smaller size. The new coat is much lighter weight. The insulation and the wool are now thinner. The wool is softer as a result of them not using 100% wool which some may like but not for a traditional Peacoat. This is new lower quality is clearly cutting manufacturing costs as the new coat is not 100% wool and they removed an internal patch pocket.

Great peacoat!
March 15, 2025I bought this coat to be a dressier option in the winter and it fits the bill. Although it’s a wool blend and not 100% wool, it feels and more importantly, appears high quality. The coat fits well and it’s easy to style.
