While we may not have invented tartan (you can thank ancient Celtics in the 8th century BC for that), we have spent a lot of time getting ours just right. Meet our signature design: We only altered the scale and checks slightly from tradition (less than 3% to ensure it still meets the definition of true "tartan") and added a shot of vibrant magenta for an exclusive-to-us twist.

Fun colors, but not like previous vests
December 25, 2018I love the colors of this vest, but I miss the style of previous years. This is a cute vest, and can make an outfit pop out more; I’m keeping it. Size is not vanity like previous vest style, so definitely stay with your normal size.

Where have the good vests gone?
December 18, 2018As an avid J. Crew Vest collector, I was very disappointed with this year's selection. It seems the quality has gone way down hill. It feels like a vest I purchased from Old Navy for $15, not the good quality pieces I've gotten from J. Crew over the years. While it is nice J. Crew has expanded their sizes, they need to learn that when you make things wider like for a 2x or 3x, you also need to make them longer. There is plenty of room in the bust and stomach, but it feels like a crop vest and that is flattering for no one. Please try harder next year J. Crew, bring back the beloved vests!!
