Ludlow cap toe leather oxfords
constructed using the same methods as some of the world's best shoemakers. With the aim of creating the foundation for any black-tie Ludlow look, our designers spared no detail on these classic oxfords. From a supple, leather lining to a hint of pinking (aka a zigzagged edge) on the cap toe, this oxford is carefully considered down to the last detail. Fun fact: Cap toe oxfords are sometimes called balmorals, a name derived from Scotland's Balmoral Castle, where legend has it that Prince Albert invented the style, which would later evolve into the dress shoe we know today.

Nice looking shoe, but a bit unconfortable
November 2, 2025I bought these for a cabaret. They're tough to get on; I definitely recommend a shoehorn. Plus, there's no grip on the shoes' bottom, so be extra mindful when walking on slick surfaces.

Great Quality
September 25, 2025Pricey but worth it. These tied my entire wedding outfit together really nicely. Very clean, stylish look to them. Plan to use them for the next wedding season. These do NOT squeak. Originally was going to go with the others but avoided due to the reviews. Happy to say these are worth the price.

Very different feel with squeaking noise.
September 15, 2025This is my 4th pair of Ludlow cap toe leather Oxford. I bought it because I really like the other three pairs that were made in China. The first impression when trying on this version is that the leather is a lot harder and perhaps thicker. The size is still perfect. I reckon it will require a few extra days of breaking in to made this comfortable enough to wear. No big deal. My major complain, however, is that the new pair instantly making very loud squeaking noise even with limited movement. Maybe it should not use leather with such surface characteristics? I am very disappointed. Can’t remember any of my other leather shoes or boots making such annoying noise. Hope J Crew can work with their Indian manufacturer to address this issue.

September 14, 2025Purchased these on sale so I would say they’re a good value for the price. They’re leather uppers, leather lined and leather soles and after one wear, they’re holding up well. The style is okay - not exactly high style, but a good everyday shoe.
