PLAY Comme des Garcons® for Converse low-top sneakers

I think I got the last size 6 at J Crew. I feel lucky. These are slightly heavier than regular Chucks, with a thicker insole and thicker rubber trim. The PLAY logo is unobtrusive - it just peers out from the midsole. Milk/cream colored canvas for the upper, coated/waxed canvas for the PLAY logo, and a black stripe up the back.

I'm very picky about shoes and went back and forth before I got these, mainly because I had never owned a pair of converse shoes prior to these. They're probably my favorite item ever purchased from Jcrew. I get so many compliments every time I wear them, which is a lot, since they go with most anything ..skirts, dresses, pants, shorts..and they are so comfortable. I bought my first pair last year and just bought another pair which I'm keeping in the box just in case they ever stop making them (:D)...and because I got caught in the rain and my first pair got a bit dirty. I'm looking to get a pair in black next. They do run large. I'm a US size 7 and both pairs I own are US size 6, and fit perfectly. Get yourself a pair if you can - you won't regret it.

As a result of other reviews (shoes run big) I was concerned when I ordered these shoes in 6M (the smallest size available in these shoes). I thought I'd give it a try because I've had my eyes on them for a few years now. Anyway, the 6M fits, quite frankly, perfectly on my feet that usually, if not always, fit 6.5B shoes. No heal lifts, which has been a problem with casual/athletic shoes in the last year, including New Balance. However, I agree with one or a few reviews that the shoes are a bit narrow and tight in the front. The width of my feet are fairly regular, if not a bit on the narrower side. As such, the narrower front of these shoes does not bother me. One last thing about these Chucks is they are padded in the footbed! The last pair of Chucks that I bought (let's just say more than 10 years ago) are not padded, just like the ones that I've owned preceding that pair. I was quite surprised and happy that these Chucks are actually comfortable to wear!

I was a little on the fence with these, but my husband thought they were adorable! Of course, he had no idea what comme des garçons is, but he loved the heart design. They're comfortable and didn't rub my heel the wrong way. I'm a true 8.5 and have a wider width than normal and they were great. Most of all, I like the unique look to these.
