“This capsule is full of uniform pieces you can mix and match—with each other
and with the rest of your wardrobe. Everything is easy to wear.”A quick Q&A with Marie
Tell us how this collaboration came together. What makes
these pieces so special?MM: I wanted these clothes to be worn by all kinds of women—for them to feel comfortable and well dressed. A fitted jacket that’s not too tight. Long wide-leg pants that look nonchalant yet chic and can be worn with flats or stilettos. Wearing elegant two-tone shirts in a nontraditional way—oversized.
Why does your aesthetic work so well with J.Crew?
MM: Our two brands are both classic, modern and cool at the same time. We have a common vocabulary: family, confident, strong, loving, caring…
What do you love about Parisian style? Why is it so inspiring?
MM: It’s minimalist style, composed of a few dear pieces essential to our daily wardrobe. The Parisian woman is relaxed, natural, chic, casual… Above all, she’s an image of emancipation, of freedom.
What’s the key to nailing that effortless Parisian look?
MM: Having few clothes, but the right ones. It always starts with a shirt, jeans, a cashmere sweater, a suit and loafers.
What are your favorite pieces from the collection and why?
MM: The navy suit and loafers. I like the contrast between the fitted jacket and the wide-leg pants that almost drag on the ground.
“
I always like to wear my shirts a little open,
on the sexy side. I like the way it falls, and it’s very French to be a bit shameless.„
