Slim merino wool V-neck sweater

After I lost a lot of weight and went down one to two sizes, I had to make do with the sweaters I had for a little while. Getting a new, classic v-neck sweater in the actual size I now wear was a gift to myself, and I'm glad for it. I wear it often with great results and compliments, especially in this color that isn't quite black, nor charcoal.

The sweater is slim, yes, but not slim enough for me, My torso is V shaped, and when I wear this and I see myself in the mirror my torso looks something like this ( ). I guess I'll have to take the sweater to the tailor and have the sides taken in. The color is nice and I have no complaints with the quality so far but if you want a slim fit merino off the rack you should skip this one.

This slim merino wool v-neck sweater is great for layering outfits and has a great fit, but its overall quality is very poor. After purchasing this sweater and wearing it for ~10 times over the course of a few months, it has already ripped at one of the seams under the arm. Although the sweater was soft and great while it lasted, its overall quality seems much lower than other merino wool sweaters at a similar price point.

The fit is actually a SLIM fit which is great. I am about 5'10", 170 lbs and the Large fits well. I can easily wear the sweater over a button up or with just an undershirt underneath. The only thing I don't like is that these sweaters are "dry clean only". I probably will never take these to a dry cleaner to be cleaned. I have washed them twice in the washer on the "delicate/hand wash" cycle inside a garment bag and the seem to come out just fine. JCrew, make this sweater machine washable! This may correct some of the other reviewers comments about durability of the fabric.

The fabric is very soft and nice. The "shaded spruce" color is beautiful. The best part, however, may be that the sleeves are long enough, which wasn't the case with a factory v-neck I recently purchased. It has plenty of room, but still has a slim silhouette. Well done J.Crew, because I'm very happy with this purchase.

This sweater fits great especially on any guy who is tall and likes a tailored fit. The slim quality means there isn't all that extra fabric for guys who don't need it. Gives a nice and pulled together look.
