Buy this coat!
May 8, 2021I spotted this coat a few weeks ago and then it was gone. Checked again a few days ago and it was back in stock. I immediately ordered my size. I just received it today and I am in love! The fabric is perfect, soft but substantial enough to provide the perfect amount of warmth for spring. I personally prefer a trench without a belt because I am too lazy for both buttons and a belt, lol. Great for tall girls. This is a classic that I will be wearing for years. J Crew, if you make this again next year I have a few suggestions to make it absolutely perfect. One: the sleeves are a bit short on my 5’8” frame (not a deal breaker because I love the coat so much). Two: make a front placket that shows off those beautiful buttons when the coat is buttoned up, they are the cutest feature of the coat! They remind me of the big buttons on my barn jacket circa 1992. Three: kick pleat on the back hem.

Classic
May 2, 2021I wanted this coat so bad & it sold out in my size, so I persevered & one popped back in inventory. The material is light-weight, soft & longer than I hoped for. I am 5' 6" & it hits to my beyond lower thigh area. Perfection & classic. I am 14 & Large had plenty of room. Get it while it's still in stock.

Fetching Trench
April 28, 2021Touting the coat's impeccable "craftpersonship", e.g., lining and sewing details which I have often appreciated in J.Crew apparel. Has a nice vintage feeling in color, style and cut. I tend to favor exposed buttons as usually adds a style element - just saying. Have not worn or cleaned so cannot further comment. Do not conceive this as rain attire given the coat's absence of moisture resistance - a potential downside for some. I usually wear a 2 in J.Crew outerwear and this XS conforms.

Third's a charm
April 18, 2021Normally I wear a S or M in outerwear so the shoulder/arm area has some wiggle room or give depending on the fabric, but after ordering the S and M in this coat, they were both very large everywhere so went back. I recently ordered an XS and am happy with the overall fit. It's still a tad long but the sleeves hit at a good length and the shoulders aren't tight. There are two inner pockets which fit a cell phone. The sleeves and upper back part of coat are lined with cotton fabric with cute piping but no lining throughout the body which makes it a nice lightweight coat. The color is a traditional khaki, the model shots make it appear lighter, than it is, but I like the actual color it won't show wear as much. If you can find the right size, I definitely recommend this cute trench, as far as water proof/repellant, I guess I'll find out next time it rains here :)

Too long
April 9, 2021Ordered xxs and it is way too long. I am 5'3" 100 lb and the arms and torso actually fit me well, but it fell two inches below my knew. I could have it hemmed shorter but due to the low position of the pockets, it would look disproportional and funny. I also don't like how it is lined: the back piece is one layer while the two front panels are lined. I feel it is kind of strange because it looks very thin from the back and more substantial from the front.
