Ludlow Slim-fit Legacy blazer in American wool

I bought this for my son and it seemed to fit, although it was tight under one arm and the sleeves needed to be shortened. I purchased it on final sale, so not returnable. However, it seemed to be of good quality, so it was worth having it tailored. When we took it to the tailor, she pointed out why the arms felt tight - one sleeve had been sown in off-kilter, creating a wrinkle and a binding feel under the arm that then made it tight across the back. She is going to see if she can straighten it - no guarantees - when she shortens the sleeves. If she can't, it is still wearable with a lightweight shirt but the wrinkling can't be unseen once seen.

I tried this Blazer on in the store and immediately felt the quality. Unfortunately they did not have my size in the store. I went online and tracked the sales throughout the season. At one point, I was ready to purchase but they didn't have my size in stock. So requested alerts when my size became available. I made my purchase once I was alerted. This Blazer is worth the Value at the original price point and certainly when reduced. I was fortunate to catch the lowest price and use my JCrew Dollars, so you could say it was a Steal. This Blazer will remain in my collection for a long time.

A Ludlow slim 36S fits me perfectly. This jacket was a nice addition to my other Ludlows. It dresses up nicely and can be casual as well. Wool is on the thin side, but it’s still cozy as well as breathable. If this jacket is on sale I wouldn’t pass it up.

Thankfully. Because you don't want to be seen in those boxy monstrosities. The Ludlow Slim, on the other hand, is tailored to perfection, provided you know your OTR size. Excellent cut and details, fitting perfectly over the cashmere sweaters or under the Ludlow overcoat. I've been happy with the consistency of sizing with J. Crew's blazers, even though other garments like sweaters and trousers seem to vary quite a bit nowadays. The fabric for this year's iteration is still beautiful, yet nothing compared to what it used to be even five or six years ago. Would I pay full price for this? Certainly not. But well worth it on a seasonal discount. Only that your legatees should probably not hold their breath.

The wool feels luxurious. The dark navy is sharp looking. The slim fit gives a nice silhouette, yes, even with corona body. I was skeptical of the butterfly lining instead of full lining for the back side, but it won me over for ease of putting on / taking off and prevent wrinkling. Good for 3 seasons. In the winter, may have to switch to a warmer tweed jacket. The lack of brass buttons isn't a big deal. Comparing to my classic BB blazer with wider lapel and brass buttons, I must admit, the Jcrew version is more modern and fits my aesthetic better. Fabric: MiUSA; Jacket: MiChina
