1040 Athletic-fit stretch chino pant

Started buying the athletic fit after J Crew eliminated the relaxed fit chino. They were an acceptable alternative at first but they have changed the style. I am 5’ 9” and 155lbs and these pants are more like a baggie pant up top and a compression tight below the knee. Skin tight from the knee down to ankle. Look nothing like the picture online. Look like MC Hammer pants. I have worn J Crew pants for over 25 years and have been completely satisfied until now. J Crew continues to abandon the customers who helped the brand become prominent in the 1990’s and after. Time to move on to another pant and clothing company. Goodbye J Crew!

I used to be all about the 770s, but quaratine-weight, changing styles and just wanting a little more room had me considering fuller pants. I'm so glad I made the switch! Not only do these have more room, which works great if you've got bigger legs/calves from cycling like me, but they also fit better everywhere. 770s always had a poor, loose fit in the butt for me and these 1040s don't. I also actually prefer the style, 'cause that little bit of extra fabric gives the pants more texture and movement. More colors please! Dying for a green and white pair.

I have now purchased 6 different colors of these pants and I am completely satisfied. Best Chinos ever. Please make a color in pink!!!

I’d be at a loss for perfect-fitting pants if J. Crew ever did away with the 1040. For a little while there, I was disappointed that the second inner button tab at the fly was discontinued as a feature in J. Crew chinos, but I was very glad to see it return in the latest pair I just received. And while the material is thinner and probably less expensive than my older pairs of 1040 chinos, the details and quality in every other respect seem to have been upgraded or brought back to a previously higher standard. I’ll keep buying these as long as J. Crew keeps making them. And please bring back the Stone color. And thanks!

I have massive thighs and it can be difficult to find pants as a result. These fit perfect. They are also comfortable. Good for work or just a causal look.

I have some 770 chino pants but sometimes feel too tight when sitting. 1040 provides a good solution for it and I love to wear in my office. They are perfect casual office pants.
