Secret Wash shirt in end-on-end cotton

I've owned quite a few Secret Wash shirts through the years so I have something to compare this shirt to. The sizing is much improved. There was a time when the sleeves got longer and longer and were unwearable for me. Looks like this has been pretty much corrected. Length of the shirt hem is a good length as well. The fabric is still nice and soft, but I do see a drop in quality overall. The shirt no longer has the nice detail at the hem with the extra piece of fabric at the split to strengthen it. Also, with the removal of the lining in the collar, it just creates this crushed, bent-out-of-shape appearance that isn't "casual cool", it just looks messed up. The smaller buttons don't make a lot of sense to me either; feels like a downgrade. Still a decent shirt but not the go-to reliable quality I've come to expect through the years.

I purchased three secret wash shirts (different colors) the material and size are great. But I've worn them all once and unfortunately the thread on the button's are unraveling. This is happening with two of the shirts... I wore them to work (office setting/behind a keyboard) with a tie so no rough treatment what so ever. I'm very disappointed with the quality thus far. I've worn J Crew clothing for many years now... please do better.

Bought three shirts, this shirt came rolled/tucked in a ball, no bag. Was Re-tagged most likely a returned item all wrinkled. Just an poor display of caring.

I recently tried on this Secret Wash shirt at the J.Crew in Chinook Mall, Calgary and didn't buy it at the time, but decided to order this same shirt from the website when I got home. It arrived today and I tried it on. I immediately had a foul odour wafting up into my nose and had to quickly remove the shirt and change the t-shirt I was wearing. It smells of fecal matter, like dog droppings, not chemicals or the normal smells associated with a new piece of clothing, I've NEVER had a shirt smell so bad right out of the box. It had aired out slightly after leaving it unwrapped but I didn't want to place it on any of my furniture for fear of a smell transfer. Additionally, a quick inspection found an entire inch of unfinished stitching on the front left shoulder seam, well done J. Crew. The fabric also seems thinner and lower overall quality to some of my older J. Crew button-up shirts. Not sure if I'm willing to take a chance on an exchange, a disappointing experience overall.

My husband loves this shirt! Loves the feel and fit of this shirt. Great quality fabric.

This is a nice blue shirt. The arms are long, or mine are short.
