Button-front beach dress

Please bring this dress back in multiple colors! It is the cutest, most comfortable dress ever! I wear an embroidered sheer cotton slip under and get compliments every time I wear it. Please bring it back!

I was expecting this to be sheer because it is a beach dress. I got the violet color and it’s one of my favorite colors in my closet right now. I tried it on with a white cotton slip from another one of my jcrew dresses to try and make it less sheer and it looked great. Can’t wait to wear it!

I bought the black dress for a pool coverup. I have J Crew dresses ranging in size M to XL that I bought on line and they all look fine . This pool dress is perfect in a size medium. Flowy, gauzy fabric perfect for a 5 star resort!

I purchased this dress in white for a cute beach coverup, which it is! I do wish I had ignored reviews saying this dress runs large. The dress is volumous/oversized - that is the style of the dress, so there is a lot of fabric by design (the white is also definitely sheer, hence it's a cover up; you'd need a slip to wear this out as a dress). The chest and arms, however, are definitely fitted TTS. I am 5'4" and currently 6 months pregnant (around 168 right now, around 150 not pregnant). I sized down from my usual medium to a small and the dress fits, even over my bump, however, it is a bit snug around my chest and in the arms (which are elastic and somewhat tight). I'm hoping by next summer when I'm back to my pre-pregnancy size it will fit better. If you are small-chested and petite, sizing down would probably work. If you are larger chested or wear padded bathing suits I would definitely consider buying your normal size.

Where I live the summers can get really hot, and it's hard to stay cool indoors. I like to have a couple house dresses in the lightest possible fabric to keep me as cool as possible. Many summer dresses are made of rayon, which traps heat! Linen and cotton are best to keep you cool and dry. I usually look for something with spaghetti straps and a skirt below my knees. Then I saw this. It's so charming! The deep V neckline, the puffed sleeve that just covers the elbow - perfect spot - and the tiered open waist body, is perfectly lovely and still kind to any lingering covid-lbs. And just above the knee. It's cotton voile, which is sheer, but it's a beach cover, sheer is what they do. I got white in medium. I'm 5'11", 169 lbs. I'll be wearing this mostly indoors, but it's likely to make an appearance at the nearest pool or beach as a cover-up, with a wide brimmed hat, over sized shades, and ankle-strappy gladiator sandals or espadrilles.

I am in love with these dresses! So flattering and just beautiful. I have all 3 colors and the cut of these dresses in so tailored and slimming. I gained 20 lbs and struggle to find summer dresses that are flattering. This dress is it! So soft and so flowy. The design with the neckline and buttons is classic yet contemporary. I am ordering extras so I always have one on hand to wear. Truly make you feel like a princess when worn. Lovely, classy and beachy cool. Definitely buy this dress. I am 5’1 125 lbs and both the extra small and small fit. Runs large.
