Smocked-waist dress with farmer's market print

Ordered this b/c of cute print and glowing reviews. I'm 5'2"/athletic, usually between 00P and 0 in J. Crew depending on cut and fabric and went with 00. On a positive note, the print is vibrant and fabric is summery…but OMG this dress looks awful in every possible way: massive, too long (for my height at least), and awkwardly bunchy all around the midsection, which is only exacerbated by the smocked waist and sleeves. The bunching creates a distinct illusion of a sagging bust both in the front and in the back, so at best one may look like a hunchback, and at worst…let's say, anatomically unique…and I am not one to ironically rock the granny chic vibe. If oversized dresses are your thing, this is a win. If you're short or more of a sheath person…better off sticking with J. Crew's suiting section. This will be a fun COVID repurposing/sewing project - after I take this in by about 10 inches, I'll have enough extra fabric to make face masks for me and all my friends!

Really love the fit... it’s has a nice form fitting waist and elastic in the shoulder area, so can be full or off shoulder style.

Lovely colors, beautiful shoulder line, very flattering. Great quality.

Print is very bright and cheerful. The dress is extremely comfortable and cute. The neckline is a little low and you have to be careful not to pull it down when putting your hands in the pockets. Went through the wash just fine. I love it and plan to get a ton of use from it. I am 5'4" 140 lbs and ordered an 8, which was a little large, probably a 6 would have been better, which is my normal size, but it was sold out.

Pretty prints but personally feel it is too much fabric for my petite frame and the dress makes my hips look wide. Perhaps this dress is better suited for taller gals. For reference I'm 5'2'' and size XS/S.

I am 5'7', 120 lbs, pretty slim build and I purchased this dress in a 0... I think I could have purchased the 00, but I love it. The material is a bit heavier so I wouldn't wear it on a 95 degree day- but its been perfect for spring/late summer- or just cooler summer temps. I wear it with the shoulders down and its darling. The reason I would have potentially gone with the smaller size is that the waist does hang a bit because the material is slightly heavier- but its so comfortable- and the hanging is not bad at all really- a smaller just would have hugged a bit closer. Because the waist is smocked its pretty forgiving on the size difference- snug without being tight. Great dress all around!
